Holy week have just passed and for most of us we are renewed and cleansed from our regular sins. Congrats to those who exerted efforts in their penetencias. So we’re back to normal, but not entirely normal, I think for a few weeks some of us will be avoiding the regular sinful activities. But nay, chances are we’ll be back in those dark corners in no time.

But for the meantime while the Holy Week effect are still fresh in our systems, here’s a list of healthy and SIN-free summer activities here in the island of Boracay for the month of April. May the odds be ever in your favour as you turn away from your you-know-what habits.

last December's Million Volunteer Run organized by Red Cross Boracay.

Place: Casa Pilar, Station 3, White Beach (13 Apr 2012)

The Catch: PNRC-Boracay Turns 1 year! So as a celebration they’ll be hosting Family day with a fun run, bikeathon and laro ng lahi (Filipino folk games) in one single event. This is the first of the 2 fun runs slated for this month. But I got a nasty feeling this will be another short unofficial no-winner fun run that won’t even reach 5k (look there’s no distance stated). And the singlet is a red t-shirt. But I’ve signed-up anyway, it’s the least I could do for the Red Cross, I hope the fast runners in the island signed-up. And yes, it promises a lot of fun for just P350.

Century Tuna Superbods 2012

Place: Astoria Hotel, White Beach (14 Apr 2012)

The Catch: Twenty finalists will vie for the Century Tuna Superbods 2012: Salute to Sexy, on April 14 at Astoria beachfront in Boracay.  Ten male and Ten female finalists will compete in the grand finals. Technically, I think this the sexiest and hottest event for the whole Boracay calendar year. But I only care to see Anne Curtis for this one. Hahaha.

Place: Crystal Sand Resort, White Beach (19 Apr 2012 – 21 Apr 2012)

The Catch: Have you seen the Nestea Beach commercial? Me, NO. But yes I heard they are promising a few days of intense Beach action with stars and activities lined up to take the White Beach by storm and make some lots of noise. But you can take the stars and the bands, but I wouldn’t miss for the world the final stage of the Nestea Beach Volley 2012! I just love the game and seeing the best of the best in the country is real treat to the eyes. I can already see my jaw dropping.

Place: White Beach (21 Apr 2012 )

The Catch: No doubt the biggest fun run that is annually held here in Boracay. It’s the only beach run in the Runner’s World calendar. Runners (especially them speed demons!) from all over the country are gearing up for this one the whole year! The singlet design is awesome. First class organizing team. Fast runners. And the registration fee is P650 for 5k. WTF! Ok guys, I already signed-up for this one – as a volunteer – this is a great chance for me to be on the production crew’s shoes. Being a volunteer is my way of support and giving back in return the joy of running.

2012 Boracay International Dragon Boat Festival

photo from Boracay.travel

Place: White Beach, Boracay (26 Apr 2012 – 28 Apr 2012)

The Catch: Dragon Boat team from all over the world on a collision course once again! Dragon boating was first introduced to Boracay in 2001. Since then, annual competitions of intense drama and adrenaline rush had been held in its pristine blue waters. Last year was really a blast as I saw the then unheralded and neglected Philippine Dragon Boat Team blew the competition away (a few months later they took the world by storm).

Should you decide to visit Boracay and experience any of these activities feel free to contact me by dropping in the comment section. It will be a pleasure having your presence here. Fruit shakes will be fair for my services. Haha.
